exactly, eating healthy means cutting off your arms and legs

Yep and thats if your single. For a family one may have to sell a kidney or half their liver, maybe an ovary or 2…

So that wedding yesterday...

Aside from the altar being completely crooked…
Aside from the ‘official’ photographer looking like a Blood and not knowing anything about photography but pointing and shooting…
Aside from the Bride & Groom looking unhappy the entire time…
Aside from the Bride & Groom’s daughter crying from the moment she arrived, not walking down the aisle, and not taking any pictures…
Aside from the uber-Christian Groom being completely rude to his Muslim mother…
Aside from them getting married out of fear of going to Hell for shacking up and having 2 kids (her, 3)…
Aside from them being too Christian to have a first dance…
Aside from it looking like the hybrid of a junior prom and upscale cookout…

The wedding was cool…

“How should societies strike the balance between autonomy and conformity? Getting that balance wrong can be catastrophic. The individual unrestrained by his culture is the Unabomber. The culture unrestrained by its individuals is the Third Reich.” —Kathryn Schulz, author of Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error, on Tina Rosenberg’s Join the Club: How Peer Pressure Can Transform the World (via curiositycounts)

There are many and more who would kiss my hand, taste my lips, to my loneliness lend their bodies’ warmth.

I have want of a friend.

There are few, some few, who would give their names and fortunes rich or send their first sons to my ailing bed.

I have need of a friend.

There is one and only one who will give the air from his failing lungs for my body’s mend.

And that one is my love.

~ Dr. Maya Angelou (Many and More)
